Slap Boxing can be put in the same category as traditional boxing in a certain manner. Slap Boxing uses open fists verses traditional boxing uses closed fists. It is usually performed in an informal manner meaning it is usually not planned out or will you see any protective gear available. Some do not consider this type of boxing a competitive sport even though these style of boxers claim it helps with their agility and increasing boxing performance.
