These Are The Side Effects of Antidepressants Obviously, the relief that is provided by antidepressants makes patients to want to use them when they feel under pressure. They are very effective in relieving depression. However, the effects the drugs will have on various patients will vary. Some patients may get a feeling that the situation is worsening further when they either start taking them for the first time or when they adjust dosage. Implanting suicidal thoughts in young adult patients Most young adults struggling with depression contemplate suicide in one way or another if they do not get the right assistance. Well, this is the main reason that cases of suicide are popular among many youth in the US and most parts of the world. The situation has gotten worse more especially when they use particular antidepressants in the effort of relieving depression. Back in 2004, the US FDA report associated suicidal attempts with some depressants taken by adults of lower than 24 years of age. This was not the case for patients over 24 years. In other words, certain antidepressants have stronger effect on young adults implanting thoughts of suicide in them. In that case, the government through the FDA issued a warning to alert users of antidepressants of the side effects of antidepressants. Suicide attempts by patients Sadly, some patients struggling with depression have attempted suicide in one way or another. Unfortunately, suicide from depression has claimed many lives throughout the world. Both young and old are at risk. It is for this reason that patients of all ages should be monitored closely when they show signs of depression.

 

Worsening situation Sometimes, the situation will worsen further if no help is provided to the needy patients. Even new patients can be admitted of depression just by being exposed to the depressing situations in which their close friends and relative are passing through. Anxiety and panic attacks Whenever the situation deteriorates, most patients develop the tendency to become increasing excited. The future becomes more oblique. As the anxiety builds up, more anxiety will accumulate in the patient worsening the situation further. In other words, depression will magnify anxiety in the patient if they do not get the right help at the right time. In most cases, such heightened anxiety leads to panic attacks that may worse the health the of the patient.

 

Restlessness More often, patients struggling with depression have reported heightened restlessness. The situation may worsen more especially if the patient is starting to use antidepressants or changes the dosage thereof. Sadly, the situation may be worse in young adults of ages 24 years and below. You would want to see your physician in case you experience these effects. Insomnia Usually, depression is an enemy to good sleep. Patients who have used antidepressants in the past have reported cases of loss of sleep. The longer the situation persists the worse the situation could turn. In some instances the patient can develop other related health complications like impulsiveness.
