Some athletes will never forget some things they did in their careers, some athletes will never forget some things they did in their careers, and if you make a mistake when your ninth-inning go-ahead run, that doesn’t count because you didn’t touch home plate after rounding the bases. I don’t think you will be forgetting about this one anytime soon. The minor league team Delmarva Shorebirds who are the Orioles’ single-A affiliate team were down a run to the Augusta GreenJackets (Giants) in the top of the ninth, with a man on, when Elier Leyva hit a two-run home run that should have given his team the lead and they go home overly happy. But the GreenJackets appealed, claiming Leyva the hitter missed home plate as he attempted to round the bases for his homer. He was called out, because apparently he completely missed home plate.
Delmarva's Elier Leyva won the game w a 9th inn HR, but didn't touch home. Jackets won in extras. Highlights tonight. pic.twitter.com/Q9l5xAme7h
