These images are not photoshopped are edited in anyway. These are not your usual beautiful stained glass sculpture or jewelry sitting on your night stand. Yes, they are indeed real spiders. The saying is true, God must have made beautiful things all around the earth. You would never think of using the word “beautiful” and “spider” in the same sentence, but if you look hard enough in this world I guess you will find damn near anything.
These spiders are called mirror or sequined spiders, members of several different species of the thwaitesia genus. These unusual spiders demonstrate a reflective silvery patch on their abdomens. The scales look like pieces of broken mirror stuck to the spider’s back. There is not much information on these pretty spiders, but most of these photos were taken place in Singapore and Australia.
